I did some editing on this book, so I know what's in the book and the value it provides. But for whom would it be most valuable? Someone who is at a crossroads or transition in their life, anyone who is stressed or unhappy about their job, and, especially, any student who is graduating from a course of study. Those who have worked with Julie and Sherry (the authors), now know that there is a huge difference between a job and one's work: a job is something you get paid to do; your Work is always constructive, an expression of who you are, that which occurs naturally, what you enjoy, and is seen by those who know you as a gift to them and your community. Yes, there is lots of practical advice in the book, but ultimately the authors are focused on guiding their clients, and now their readers, to be more open to their unique design, what the universe or Life or God sent them here to provide for the rest of us. And to be at peace with that. It deals with barriers, practicality, thoughts, feeling stuck, questioning, curiosity and, hopefully, an eventual surrender to simplicity, a relaxing into the natural work for which we were designed. I hope the book brings understanding and ease and peace to all its readers. Who knows? You might even be one of them!Product details

Inside Job 8 Secrets to Loving Your Work and Thriving Julie Gleeson Sherry Berman MA 9780615875392 Books Reviews
The authors are right on! When you know your own nature, and learn to value it, work will easily fall into place. This book gives a step by step guide to uncovering your real talents and preferences. You will then, naturally, be able to see your best career path. I feel like a light bulb just switched on! I am getting copies of this book for all of my family and friends who are in work or life transitions.
I have read dozens of books in this category and I was thrilled to see this one come out. The title of the book is very appropriate and accurate and I was very excited to start reading it. Simply put, I loved it! I am someone who teaches and writes articles on a regular basis and I found the information inside to be excellent and highly useful. Whether you are unahappy in your current job; in a life transition; or think you are already happy with your current vocation, this book is a great read. The way the authors speak to you is in common, easy to understand language. I found the material to be inspiring and applicable to many aspects of my own life. The information is so useful, you might even think of picking up one for a friend!
How our passions can be united with our careers is so critical! This books is a guide to that adventure--making work not just a job but a career.
I purchased this book for my college age son but read it before giving to him. I found a lot of uplifting and thought provoking useful info inside. Really made me rethink some life/job choices and make changes. I highly recommend this book!
I found the book inspirational and a good reminder to be mindful of my negative thinking. However through out the book there are a dozen examples of people's success is tied to additional courses and services e.g, "graduates of the CWI Master Series" A $5000 program. I discovered the book was self published by Bush Street Press who touts a "bestseller in a weekend program to establish credibility, get more exposure, attract more clients and make more profits".
I bought this book on the recommendation of a trusted advisor. At first I thought it was just another, "be in the moment" sort of 'new agey' self help book. However there was more to it. There were some really interesting ideas that take into consideration the many changes in the work environment verses the way we might have been brought up and conditioned to think about work. Some really good creative ideas.
I picked up this book to have a better conversation with a friend about her work. I brought her into a role and within 6 months she was no longer curious and thriving but striving to stay afloat. In a couple of hours I found wisdom and positive affirmations to reclaim what makes us thrive and love what we do. Whether looking for a new career or redefining a current career this is a good read. The bonus is being able to take action here and now or take your journey the next step with help. The recommended reading is also a bonus.
